Biology Student Gains Work Integrated Learning Experience as Lab Assistant at Ambrose
Ambrose University continues to grow our Work Integrated Learning opportunities across all of our undergraduate programs. To that end, biology major Katie Ferner worked very hard throughout the 2023-24 academic year in an on-campus Field Placement as Lab Assistant at Ambrose University. During her placement, Katie was responsible for laboratory maintenance, inventory management, and laboratory safety & operations. Her dedication and attention to detail were highly valued as she was tasked with updating the entire biology lab inventory, and ensuring the accurate location and record of all equipment and supplies in the lab. She also learned how to calibrate multiple machines and ensured that the lab consistently met standards of safety and sanitation for staff and students. A highlight of this placement for Katie was the support and encouragement of the lab instructors, who provided clear direction and offered valuable feedback as they worked alongside Katie to meet her learning goals for this placement. Ambrose is pleased to be offering this placement again for the 2024-25 school year, with another biology student ready to take on this exciting opportunity. Field Placement students receive academic credit and gain valuable work experience that prepares them for their future careers after graduation.
