Assistant Professor, Psychology
Ambrose University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Psychology, starting August 2025.
Reporting to the Dean of Arts and Science and working collaboratively with the Chair of Social Sciences, the individual has shared responsibility for developing and executing a robust Psychology program vision while successfully maintaining individual teaching, committee, and a moderate research program.
Applicants with research expertise in cognitive psychology and/or neuroscience is preferred, but candidates with adjacent expertise will be considered. The successful candidate may teach courses, such as Introduction to Neuroscience, Brain and Behaviour, Cognitive Psychology, Sensation and Perception, Drugs and Behaviour, Tests and Measurement, and other related subjects aligned with their area of expertise. The ability to teach research methods and undergraduate statistics is an asset.

The Social Sciences program offers two degrees: a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology (4-year major); and a Bachelor of Arts in Behavioural Science (3-year concentration or 4-year major), which is an interdisciplinary degree with Psychology and Sociology. Minors in Psychology, Behavioural Science, and Sociology are also offered. The successful candidate will complement our current expertise in areas related to Theoretical and Critical Psychology, Social Psychology, and Narrative Psychology.
Start Date: August 2025
- Prepare and teach Psychology courses.
- Complete moderate ongoing research and publication.
- Supervise senior student independent research projects.
- Participate in regular committee work at departmental and institutional levels.
- Provide students with academic advising.
- Support students involved in work-integrated learning opportunities.
- Periodically be involved in student recruitment, curriculum development, and other department initiatives.
- PhD in Psychology or equivalent.
- Demonstrated success in post-secondary teaching.
- Demonstrated success in research.
- Demonstrated ability to integrate the Christian faith and the study of Psychology.
- Demonstrated experience as a team player and colleague in the Social Science department.

- Employment is contingent upon satisfactory criminal background check and academic transcripts.
- In accordance with Canadian immigration requirements, priority will be given to Canadian citizens and permanent residents of Canada.
- Compensation package is commensurate with education and experience.
- A relocation allowance may also be provided.
