The Director of Marketing and Communications is responsible for managing media relations, writing and editing content, managing Ambrose’s brand, developing annual campaigns, managing crisis communications, and overseeing various Communications projects. The Director is responsible for the day-to-day administration of the Marketing and Communications team while working closely with internal stakeholders to support their marketing and communications needs.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Manage and develop marketing and advertising campaigns.
  • Develop and manage the Communications budget. This includes tracking invoices, VISA statements, and other expenses.
  • Develop and implement a multichannel marketing strategy to support Ambrose’s recruitment initiatives.
  • Work with internal stakeholders to increase enrolment through multichannel marketing tactics.
  • Develop and maintain an annual roadmap of Communications projects.
  • Work with internal stakeholders to define and refine various communications-related projects. This includes providing stakeholders with strategic guidance and support.
  • Maintain and update Ambrose’s Crisis Communication Plan.
  • Oversee the management of Ambrose’s website.
  • Provide direction and support for photography and video projects.
  • Manage and protect Ambrose’s brand with oversight of brand standards.
  • Oversee media relations. This includes building media interest, ensuring regular contact with target media outlets, responding to media requests, and acting as Ambrose’s representative with the media.
  • Develop and implement various Communications policies and procedures.
  • Evaluate public relations strategies and media impressions.
  • Serve as the Editor of the annual Impact Report.
  • Develop other collateral materials to communicate inspiring stories about Ambrose’s programs and guests.
  • Manage media training for Ambrose’s spokespeople.
  • Guide and coach staff in their daily work and support them in meeting their individual performance goals.
  • Track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of departmental projects and marketing campaigns. Compile data, generate reports, and analyze results to assess impacts and identify areas for improvement.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, etc.) is required.
  • At minimum 7-10 years of related experience with at least 3 of those years at a Director level is required.
  • Thorough knowledge of internal communications is required.
  • Experience in writing content for newsletters, media relations, and social media is required.
  • Strong knowledge of media and public relations and social media is required.

Skills

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft 365, Adobe Creative Suite, Asana, and content management systems.
  • Able to support change management, employee engagement, internal branding, and values-based communication.
  • Able to manage multiple, concurrent projects under tight timelines.
  • Able to resolve conflicts and find mutually agreeable solutions.
  • Superior interpersonal skills.
  • Able to work independently and within a team.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to prioritize projects and tasks based on the strategic needs of the organization.

Additional Information
  • A compensation package commensurate with education and experience is available.
  • Employment is contingent upon satisfactory background criminal check and academic transcripts.
