Jose Caceres Named CCAA Men's Volleyball Coach of the Year

Ambrose University is pleased to announce that José Cáceres was named Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Men’s Volleyball Coach of the Year.
Cáceres was honoured on March 7, 2023, during the 2023 CCAA Men’s Volleyball National Championship, hosted by Humber College in Etobicoke, ON.
This is Cáceres’ first year coaching the Ambrose Lions’. With 16 years of professional coaching experience, Cáceres is also in charge of Compliance and High Performance with Ambrose University Athletics, where he supports students through oversight of their academics, athletic therapy, and safe sport training. Prior to coaching at Ambrose, Cáceres was the Head Coach of the St. Lucia National Team and an Assistant Coach with the Peru National Team.

Quick Facts:
- Caceres is the first coach from Ambrose University to receive this award.
- Both Ambrose Volleyball coaches, José Cáceres (men’s volleyball) and Barry Heidebrecht (women’s volleyball) were selected as the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) South Coaches of the Year.
- Lions Volleyball entered ACAC in the Fall of 2014.
