Starting his role within Ambrose in 2019, Michalis Andronikou is one of Ambrose’s talented sessional faculty. Quickly integrating himself into the community, Andronikou found an incredible way to combine his passion for music composition and production into his role at Ambrose. Drawing inspiration from the popular 1 Corinthians passage, Andronikou composed ‘Of Love and Nothingness’ a melodic composition that was later performed by the Ambrose choir, led by Dr. Mark Bartel. If this wasn’t an impressive feat within itself, Andronikou went on to generously donate royalties from both ‘Of Love and Nothingness’ and a piece commissioned by Ambrose; ‘God’s Grandeur’ by Gerard Manley Hopkins.

“During COVID I noticed the community starting to come together and felt the collaborative spirit. I thought this would be a great time to give back to this community.” Michalis recounts.

With hopes the royalties and publication revenue will go towards a music scholarship for a deserving student, Andronikou spoke fondly of the smiling faces and great energy when coming together for this session. Referencing Ambrose’s knowledgeable and attentive faculty, Andronikou concluded the interview with a recommendation for students interested in the arts to consider Ambrose University for post-secondary education.
