Don Quantz, PhD
Biography
Don Quantz holds a Bachelor of Music (1979, Mount Allison University), a Master of Education (University of Manitoba, 1995) and a PhD in Music Education (University of Calgary, 2003).
He has been a full-time worship pastor for twelve years and a music professor for eighteen years. His teaching has centered on choral conducting, music history, conducting techniques, music practicums, and the history of music and worship. His choirs have participated in nine tours within Canada and six international tours. His Chamber Singers are travelled to Italy in May, 2011, where they participated in a Sacred Choral Festival in Venice. They also went on tours to Barcelona (to participate in the MRF Music Festival) and Vienna, to Atlantic Canada in 2015 and to Great Britain in 2018, the year Don retired.
Dr. Quantz is active as a choral clinician in the Calgary area. He coordinated the annual Ambrose Chamber Choir Collaboration, an event which joins a number of high school choirs and Ambrose Chamber Singers. He is married to Brenda and has two children, Matthew and Natasha and attends Skyview Community Church in Calgary.
