The role of the International Student Leader is to work with Student Life Team to promote a supportive atmosphere for international students that aligns with the Ambrose Mission. The International Student Leader will design and implement community building events that brings international student together and provide individual supports and referrals.
- Assist in organizing and executing activities developed for International Orientation.
- To design and implement educationally meaningful and skill building initiatives that meet the specific needs of international students (i.e design a tax seminar for international students to file Canadian taxes, cultural exchange programming, PR sessions).
- Using the social media platforms that exist to promote interaction with international services and events.
- Inform the Student Life staff of major inquiries and emerging needs of international students
- Participate in ongoing training and development opportunities provided through Student Life services, when appropriate. These may be:
- Student Leader Retreat: August 30
- Student leadership training: September 1
- Capturing via videography and/or photography activities developed for International Students
- Support/coordinate programs and events organized by the international student life team
- Participate in the international student panel for orientation or open house.
- Promote diversity and intercultural sensitivity on campus through events or public exposure.
- Work with other student leaders on campus to help them engage the international student body and to explore collaborative opportunities.
- Attend bi-weekly meetings with your supervisor
Duties and responsibilities performed within one's capabilities that do not constitute a major change may be added, deleted, or changed at any time at the discretion of the supervisor either orally or in writing.
