Clinical Psycho-spiritual Education

Clinical Psycho-spiritual Education (CPE) is an experience-based approach to learning practical skills and competencies for ministry. It combines qualified supervision and group reflection with clinical learning about spiritual health care. Ambrose has an affiliation agreement with Alberta Health Services. The CPE learning experience includes classroom instruction, peer group evaluation, intrapersonal reflection and guided spiritual caregiving. SPC 715 and SPC 716 are equivalent to the first two basic units of CPE; SPC 717 is the equivalent to the first advanced unit of CPE. Alberta Health Services retains the authority to admit students to this learning experience.

SPC 715 Clinical Psycho-spiritual Education (6 credits) is applied to the MDiv degree as:

  • PT 712 (provided all internship prerequisites have been met) and one elective, or
  • 6 credits Open Electives
     

SPC 715 Clinical Psycho-spiritual Education (6 credits) will be applied to the MLM degree as:

  • PT 712 (provided all internship pre-requisites have been met) and 3 credits Elective, or
  • 6 credits Specialized Ministry or Open Electives.
     

SPC 716 Clinical Psycho-spiritual Education II (6 credits) will be applied to the MDiv degree as 6 credits Open Electives and to the MLM as 6 credits Specialized Ministry or Open Electives.

SPC 717 Clinical Psycho-spiritual Education III (6 credits) will be applied to the MDiv degree as 6 credits Open Electives and to the MLM as 6 credits Specialized Ministry or Open Electives.

SPC 715 Clinical Psycho-spiritual Education, SPC 716 Clinical Psycho-spiritual Education II, and SPC 717 Clinical Psycho-spiritual Education III will be graded on a Pass/Fail basis.  A maximum of 12 credits may be earned towards any Ambrose Seminary degree by means of Clinical Psycho-spiritual Education.
